Water Supply Development & Engineering
The process of identifying and developing clean potable water resources is becoming increasingly difficult, due to increasingly stringent regulatory requirements that have accompanied increasing use of surface and groundwater resources. MSE supports agricultural users, developers, municipalities, and industry by providing comprehensive water supply development and engineering services. These services include the following:
- Site selection–assisting our clients in identifying suitable surface water and groundwater supplies.
- Permitting–helping clients navigate state regulations, performing nutrient-pathogen analyses and other analyses of potential source suitability.
- Engineering–developing engineering approaches to water resource development, including collection, treatment, and delivery systems, from conceptual design through preliminary to final design.
- Treatment–identifying appropriate treatment technologies depending on the end use of water resources.
- Testing–performing water quality testing to establish suitability of surface water or groundwater supplies, and performing well pump testing to verify water quantity available.
- Modeling–performing groundwater and surface water modeling to evaluate groundwater impacts due to withdrawal, and potential impacts on surface water resources.
- Wellhead Protection–delineating wellhead protection areas to protect groundwater resources from adverse impacts due to land use.
- Construction Management–management of construction of potable water systems, from small individual systems to larger water treatment facilities.
Our staff is thoroughly familiar with both state and federal regulations that govern potable water use, including wellhead protection, the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2), and Stage 2 Disinfection Byproducts Rule (Stage 2 DBP).
